Luke Taylor Outside Reading 4 Paul's Bold Words

I was reading through Corinthians today. In chapter 15 Paul discusses a verse that really hit me. The verse in 1Corinthians 15:34 “You should be embarrassed that there are still people that don’t know about God.”

While that sounds brutal, I can understand the fire in Paul’s heart. In John 2 when Jesus goes off by flipping tables and yelling out people to get out of his Father’s temple, there is a verse that states “My love for your house burns in me like a fire” (John 2:17). The disciples think of that when Jesus goes off and chases the people out of the temple. They realize Jesus is so passionate about glorifying his Father that he is will do whatever it takes to make people get it, he is BURNING for his Father!!

Sometimes, when we love something so much; when we are so passionate about it, we burn for it. We are willing to do anything for it, even die for it. I think Paul burns a passion-type fire for God when he thinks of those who are lost and desperately need God. While he may come off offending people by telling them that they should be embarrassed, I think he is trying to make the point that we need to FIGHT for our lost friends. The enemy is real, he is wicked, he is powerful… but he is NO GOD. It reminded me of who I live for, a KING OF KINGS, a God who called me the beloved of Christ. Just wanted to share that with you guys and put it out there.
