Spencer Sims, Narnia Overall

Narnia as a literary work was a excellent piece to analyze for this class to tackle the idea of reality coming into the weaving and telling of myths. This written work is accessible to nearly all reading levels, making it easily received by multiple audiences.The narrator-reader relationship C.S. Lewis establishes throughout the book with his asides and curious observations serve to transform the narrative into a more visceral experience. With each observation he attempts to connect the reader to the world, not of Narnia, but the story itself to make it almost commonplace in the mind. In doing so he cast asides some of the readers doubt, a suspension of disbelief if you will, better allowing the reader to experience instead of analyze it. There is a spectacular level of immersion in the chronicles of Narnia, from the captivating characters to the strange places that are explored. I have yet to meet a single person who does not immediately love Mr. Tumnus haha.

In providing such a deep immersion C.S. Lewis was better able to encapsulate the realities of faith and all the struggles it entails. It was imbued inside the characters of these chronicles not just symbolically but in such a manner that it resonates with the reader. Unfortunately due to the nature of this connection to the primary world, to show where these connections lie in the Pevensies siblings would be to diminish the analysis to their symbolic counterparts. This is what I mean by a visceral experience, the true struggles these siblings face are ones that resonate with us without us really acknowledging them reflecting on them, we experience them with the siblings. We are able to relate to them, because of the powerful immersion Lewis has established in his novels.
