Cedar Stump - Prompt and Painting by Emily Pell, [Sans painting]
"Go find an ordinary spot - something you pass by everyday - and ask the Holy Spirit to show you something brand new about something that seems ordinary. Then, thank him for eyes to see again."
"I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in his holy people. Ephesian 1:18"
I am in my living room listening to music, typing and waiting and I see my roommate's jimbe. It's a drum partially spotlighted by the sunlight coming in the window - I never noticed how beautiful its color is. The drum has a tan top like many other drums of its kind, stretched taught to sing deep, bassy notes to the world. The bottom is a rich brown, colored like dark wood furniture. I love brown because it is such a natural color. When I see it I think of manliness, leather, and adventures.
Thank you Holy Spirit for eyes to see.
-------------
Myth is truly boundless. Even in this small exercise I believe I've seen a little bit more of the Real that I didn't know before. My eyes have been opened in this class to see that myth is more than a visual or auditory experience. I can be touched, tasted, and smelled...yummy.
"Come, taste and see."
