At the beginning of this course I was reading "Mere Christianity" by C.S. Lewis, while I was unable to finish it, I think it is a worthy book to mention to the rest of you. "Mere Christianity" is a book where Lewis appears to set out to find some unifying factor among the christian denominations and remind them that perhaps they are not all so different as they believe themselves to be. He attempts to tackle the foundation of christian belief and in so doing sets up, what was to me, a very powerful conception of it. Throughout this book one can see the depth of thought Lewis has given to his belief. Not only that but also the massive impact his faith has had on his writing. This book, in my mind, spells out just how his faith has influenced not only his other writings but many aspects of his life. It wasn't until I was engrossed in his explanation of morality that I found myself truly considering the words of one of the reviewers excerpts on the back of this book. "The point about reading C.S. Lewis is that he makes you sure, whatever you believe, that religion accepted or rejected means something extremely serious, demanding the entire energy of the mind" -Harper's
