S Pl0tz #3 Silver Chair

I honestly do not remember the last time I read this book. And even when I did, I don't think I really grasped the book fully - I was really young and thought I could read better than I actually did. But its all good. I decided to read this book first when we were going over Narnia for that very reason. And wow the first thing I have to say is how magical the beginning is. I love how Eustace and Jill call to Aslan to take them away. It is just exciting! and I know the adventure of their lives is about to unfold!  One thing that I think really struck me in this book was how much CS Lewis talked to the reader about his book. I've read the Horse and His Boy several times out loud but I don't think I really meditated on Lewis style in regards to Narnia before. Honestly it is one I am excited to attempt to recreate in the creative story assignment. It's been a nice break reading the silver chair form that Hiddeous Strength. Its crazy how different the books are, I mean it makes sense Narnia is intended for children where Space trilogy caters adults. I do think that Lewis intintion put Puddleglum in the story purely for comedic purposes. He's a character to smile and laugh at. Such a high spirited pessimist. I'm sure adults reading this story to their children cracked up at it as I did when going through it again myself. One thing I do not quite understand in this book however is the chapter where the three are walked past the giants without them noticing. I wonder what CS Lewis was getting at with these giants in relation to the kids??
